Child dies after being struck by vehicle outside Pageland Elementary School

The accident happened outside of Pageland Elementary School on W McGregor Street. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital and their condition has not been released. The child was taken to a hospital in Monroe where they later died. Police say the child was not a student there.

Child struck, killed at Pee Dee area elementary school

Police told local media the incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The family of the child said they were enrolling their children in school when they sent a child to the car to get some additional documents. The child was struck while trying to cross the street. The child was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe and was pronounced dead.

"South Pointe will be taking up an offering to help with the burial expenses for this family. If you would like to donate, you may send an offering with your child to school tomorrow to give to their homeroom teacher or bring to the office," the letter read.
