Cletus Roper, 52, killed, after his picup leaves the Hayne Street roadway in Spartanburg, and crashes into a tree.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash.

Troopers said the wreck happened just before 6:30 p.m Monday.

Investigators said the driver of a pickup truck was headed south on Hayne Street in Spartanburg County when the he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The Spartanburg County Corner said Cletus Roper, 52, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
