The girl, whose name has not been released, is charged with one count of vehicular homicide, four counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, possession of liquor by a minor, reckless driving and driving while texting.

Judge Chris Craft sided with prosecutors Friday by denying Panchikal's request to have her license reinstated.     

One person died and five others were injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 385 between Hacks Cross Road and Winchester Road. The collision happened when a 16-year-old girl was driving eastbound on Highway 385 and crossed over the median and into the westbound lanes. Two vehicles, a Nissan Altimia and a GMC Envoy, ended up colliding with the teen's vehicle. The driver of the Altima, Alejandra Sanchez-Ponce, 47, was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. Her passenger was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The 16-year-old was transported to the hospital in serious condition. All three occupants of the Envoy were taken to hospitals in stable condition.
