Toney Campbell, 46, killed, after he is dragged and then run over by a car, that fled the scene, near Jefferson and Claybrook streets in Memphis.

A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Jefferson and Claybrook Friday night, according to police.

Around 9 p.m., officers found Toney Campbell, 46, lying in the street after being dragged and run over by a car. Campbell was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died.

According to police, Campbell was leaning inside the driver’s side window of a light colored minivan or SUV when the vehicle accelerated, swerving and dragging him.

Campbell fell into the street and the driver of the car ran over Campbell and fled the scene, police said.

Police are looking for a Caucasian male with blond, possibly curly, hair between the ages of 40 and 50.
