A snow-clogged, slippery Tooele County interchange between westbound State Road 201 and Interstate 80 was the scene of a fatal crash Wednesday night.
South Jordan woman killed in freeway crash
Rylee M. Larkin, 20, of South Jordan, was traveling west in a Hyundai on state Route 201 just before 7 p.m. and had entered the on-ramp to go west on I-80 when she lost control of her vehicle on the slick road and hit a concrete barrier.
Fatal crash closes I-80 near Tooele; trooper injured on scene
A UHP trooper who responded to the crash was hit and pinned inside her car for a time. She suffered minor injuries.
It was around 9:00pm when 20-year-old Rylee M. Larkin was driving on the interchange from westbound SR-201 to I-80, which was covered in ice and snow. Larkin lost control on the slick road and crashed into a concrete barrier, and was then rear-ended by an SUV. The accident left Larkin dead at the scene, while the SUV driver was unharmed, and their passenger sustained minor injuries. The poor road conditions are considered the main cause for this accident.
