Fiery crash on I-15 kills Washington state man

A 23-year-old Washington state man died Wednesday in the fiery crash of his car and a semi-trailer rig on Interstate 15 near Fillmore. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said that Derek J. White, of Sammamish, Wash., was driving north when his 2004 Honda Civic entered a construction zone near mile post 170. White drifted to the left edge of the roadway, overcorrected to the right, and then went into a spin that took him into the median. White's car then re-entered the northbound lanes backwards and slid to a stop facing sideways in the left lane, where the semi struck the car broadside.

Comments

80 MPH for this stretch of I-15 is too high.  Truck tire treads are too frequent.  A 70 MPH speed limit would encourage more drivers to feel safe on this road.  And lives would be saved.  Let those who enjoy high speed driving, go to the Salt flats where they can only endanger others who like driving so fast.
