Mary Boykins, 57, struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver driving a black pickup while she was walking in Chesapeake, Virginia

A 57-year-old Chesapeake woman was killed Thursday night after being struck by a pickup truck in a hit and run accident on Sparrow Road, police said. Police responded at about 10:25 p.m. to the 4300 block of Sparrow Road after receiving a report of a hit and run involving a pedestrian, according to a Chesapeake Police Department news release. Police determined Mary Boykins, of the 1000 block of Justis Street, was crossing the road when she was hit by a black pickup truck. The driver left the scene, headed eastbound on Indian River Road towards Virginia Beach, the news release said.
