He and some of his friends went to the nearby Dollar Tree and bought candles, a balloon and a poster. They wrote “R.I.P.” on the poster and made a memorial near the scene of the crash.

The man driving the car was unhurt and cooperating with police. Investigators ruled out impairment as a factor in the crash.

Anneice B. Fich of Washougal was pushing a stroller carrying her great-grandson across the uncontrolled intersection near Northeast 3rd Avenue and Weir Street when a vehicle driving east on 3rd Avenue struck her. Fich was pronounced dead at the scene. Her great-grandson, 2-year-old Eduardo "Lalo" Herrera-Berra, was taken to Peace Health Medical Center and treated for broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a fractured leg.
