A semi hauling two fuel tankers overturned in Vancouver early Friday morning, spilling fuel into storm drains and into the yard of a nearby apartment complex. The truck crashed at around 1:30 a.m. on Northeast 18th Street at Northeast 119th Street, according the Vancouver Fire Department. Lines said the driver was not injured, but one of the fuel tanks ruptured in the crash and was leaking gas for hours until it was nearly empty. The Washington Department of Ecology and a hazmat team were trying to soak up as much of the gas as they could Friday morning, but some of the fuel had already leaked into drains and landscaping around the Mission Hills Apartments. There were no evacuations and no injuries were reported. Investigators did not know the cause of the crash.
