The police chief in the Pierce County town of Buckley says a 1-year-old boy being pulled in a wagon on a trail was fatally injured when he was hit by a truck Monday afternoon. Chief Jim Arsanto says the child’s father was pulling him in a wagon on a trail that runs along Highway 410. Arsanto says the truck ran off the road, hit the boy, later identified as Lincoln Person, then continued down the trail until it hit a telephone pole. The boy was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The truck driver was taken to another hospital. The extent of his injuries was not known. Investigators say neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.
