A Gig Harbor-area man was booked into jail Sunday on suspicion of vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident that happened near Wauna. The 23-year-old was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus westbound on state Route 302, when he left the roadway and hit a tree shortly after 2 a.m. near Emerald Drive Northwest. A 26-year-old man in the car was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital with injuries, and a 24-year-old man was injured and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. The cause of the wreck was driving under the influence, according to a State Patrol report.
