Sharon Deppner, 74, dead in crash between a semi and two cars on Highway 2 near Airway Heights, Washington

Sharon Deppner, 74, was killed in a collision involving a semi truck and two vehicles on Highway 2 about five miles west of Airway Heights, Washington at about 8:41 a.m. Two cars were eastbound Highway 2 approaching Deep Creek Road when one of them lost control at the same time that a semi was traveling westbound in the same area. One of the vehicles, a pickup, lost control because of snowy road conditions. The semi driver swerved in an attempt to avoid the vehicle, but hit the pickup and then plummeted down a 100-foot embankment. The pickup driver, Deppner, died in the crash, and the semi driver was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
