Woman killed in accident near Toppenish identified

The accident is being investigated by the Yakama Nation Tribal Police. A dispatcher for the agency said the only person who could release information about the crash was unavailable.

The woman who was killed in a car accident near Toppenish Tuesday was 34-weeks pregnant, according to the Yakima County Coroner. Jennifer Brown, 29, of Wapato, died of severe head trauma when the vehicle she was driving exited the road and went into a canal near 2051 S. Oldenway Road. Brown died at the crash site. A second person was taken to a local hospital. Authorities did not release the other person’s name or their condition.
