The Cherokee County Coroner said a 50-year-old Union woman was killed in a single vehicle collision near Gaffney on New Years Eve. Fowler identified the victim as Ruth Ann Allman Magner of 167 Magner Drive. "Mrs. Magner was traveling south on South Carolina Highway 18 when she lost control of the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck she was driving at 8:08 p.m Tuesday near the intersection of Dawkins Road. The truck ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a tree on the driver's side. Mrs. Magner was pronounced dead at the scene," Fowler said.

Three young people were injured, including two who were airlifted to the hospital, after a crash on Tuesday afternoon in Stewart County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Jessie Cramer, of Paris, TN, was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt south on U.S. 79 near Bumpus Mills Road in Dover when the car crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a guardrail about 4 p.m. Cobalt and a 14-year-old passenger were transported by medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A 12-year-old was killed early Tuesday when a 14-year-old driver crashed a car in Cass County. It happened just after 2 a.m. on Bertrand Street just east of 21st Street in Milton Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department. The vehicle involved in the crash was headed east when 14-year-old driver Brandon Zachary Burr of Niles lost control. The car hit a tree, Cass County sheriff's officials said. Passenger Adrian Matthew Chiquito, 12, of Niles, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brandon was hurt taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.

One person is dead and another person injured after a vehicle slammed into an Amtrak train in Camarillo on Monday.

Authorities received a call about the collision at a standard railroad crossing at 5th Street and Las Posas Road at 10:49 a.m. Investigators believe a vehicle struck the train, and the impact sent the car into a parked pickup truck.

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Monday in southwest suburban Lemont.

A man driving a blue Toyota in the northbound lanes of Archer Avenue was passing other vehicles on the right shoulder about 6:20 a.m. when he lost control and ended up in the southbound lanes, where he was hit by a Dodge pickup, a Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

The 48-year-old driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the man’s death, but his name was not being released Monday morning.

A Simpson County teen is critically injured after a one-vehicle crash near Mendenhall.

According to authorities, 19-year-old Chasidy Wade lost control of her Acura TL while trying to avoid hitting a cat.

She was traveling northbound on Highway 13 when she went across the southbound lane of Highway 13. Wade then left the roadway and hit a tree.

She was taken to Simpson General Hospital and airlifted to UMC where she remains in critical condition tonight.

The investigation is still ongoing.

A man standing on the sidewalk waiting to cross the street was struck and killed by an SUV spinning out of control from a two-car crash, police said.

A car traveling westbound on Greenway tried to turn left onto 29th Street and hit the SUV that was heading eastbound, officers said.

The SUV spun after getting hit and struck Cameron Matthew Hall.

The intersection at 29th Street and Greenway is expected to be closed for several hours while police follow up their investigation.

The elderly woman who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Rosemead Sunday has been identified.

Qingrong Chai, 69, was hit and killed at Marshall Street and Greendale Avenue around 6:20 p.m.

Deputies say a gray SUV was traveling without its headlights on when it struck Chai. The driver then fled westbound without stopping.

The victim would have celebrated her 70th birthday on Thursday.

Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed one person on Oregon 6 early Monday. The accident involving a single vehicle happened about 6:40 a.m. on Oregon 6 near Lee's Summit. A spokesman for Portland police, said that Hayla Cheryl Ann Ruhl, who was headed east, lost control while trying to pass two other vehicles. Her car crossed the westbound lane, struck a guardrail and went down an embankment where it overturned onto its top in a creek. Firefighters had to use ropes to get to the car, located about 40 feet down from the roadway. Ruhl was pronounced dead at the scene.

A late-night crash caused by a wrong-way driver killed one person on Monday night. Police said the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Eagle Way Bypass and hit two other cars head-on. The passenger in the wrong-way car died at the scene, and three others were taken to the hospital. Police have not identified any of the victims. At this time, police are not sure why the driver was driving in the wrong lane.
