At least one person died in the crash of a small plane into a rural south-central Pennsylvania field, state police said. Police said the crash early Thursday scattered debris over a quarter-mile area north of Gettysburg. He said the plane was destroyed, but there didn't appear to have been a fire or explosion. Hicks said neighbors in the Biglerville area heard what sounded like engine trouble and then the noise of the crash at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

A 63-year-old woman was struck and killed Monday night along the 700 block of Fruitville Pike in Lititz, according to police.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. The victim has been identified as Suzanne Cassell, 63, of Lititz. She had crossed the street to get mail from her mailbox when she was hit by a 1996 Saturn, driven by Elizabeth Randler, 22, of Manheim, police said.

Cassell was killed in the collision and Randler was hospitalized.

Police say the "matter remains under investigation."

An explosion has been reported at the Gill Rock Drill Company in Lebanon.

One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to a Lebanon County 911 dispatcher. The drill company is located in the 900 block of Cornwall Road.

The explosion was reported at 8:58 a.m. There was no other information immediately available.

Southwest Regional Police say a 67-year-old crashed into a tree Monday afternoon southeast of Hanover.

Police believe Larry Rummel suffered some sort of medical problem before going off the road in the 5000 block of southbound Blue Hill Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Road 39 re-opened in Boone County Friday morning following a crash.

The crash involved multiple vehicles.

Around 7:20 a.m., SR 39 was closed between Blubaugh Avenue and 800 North due to the crash. About an hour later, it was back open.

The Sheriff's Office reported someone was injured, but the extent of those injuries wasn't immediately known.

A pedestrian was transported to the hospital Monday afternoon after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Upper Allen Township, according to township police. Mary Kay Quenzler, 67, of Mechanicsburg, was transported by ambulance to Holy Spirit Hospital with unspecified injuries. Quenzler was struck around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Geneva Drive at Paris Drive. Police said Clarissa Fisher, 51, also of Mechanicsburg, struck Quenzler with her vehicle.

Snow apparently is causing havoc on Harrisburg-area roads.

A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 83 south, between Exit 46A- Interstate 283 and Exit 45 (Paxton Street), at roughly 1:30 p.m. has closed all lanes.

And another, nearby accident a short time earlier has caused a lane restriction on Interstate 83 South, one mile south of exit 45, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

New Hampshire State Police report two people were killed Saturday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 89 in Lebanon.

The victims’ names have not been released.

A driver traveling south between Exit 18 and Exit 19 lost control and crossed center median into the northbound lanes, hitting another vehicle, the state police said.

The right travel lane of the northbound side of the highway has been closed for several hours.

An Oregon State Police trooper was injured Friday night when his patrol car was rear-ended as he was wrapping up a traffic stop on Oregon 34 east of Corvallis. Just after 8 p.m., Trooper Don Rummer was finishing a traffic stop and got back into his patrol car when he saw a car coming from behind lose control on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. The car crashed into the back of the stopped patrol car.

A day of merriment ended in tragedy over the weekend when a man dressed in a Santa suit was hit and killed on a busy interstate in Philadelphia. Adam Herr, 24, was walking along I-95 in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia when a passing car struck and killed the Lebanon, Pa. native. The victim's father, told the Daily News that his son was in the city for the annual Running of the Santa's Saturday. A friend filed a missing person report for Adam after he left the group he was eating dinner with after the race. It is unclear how Herr ended up on I-95.
