NICKELSVILLE — A Southwest Virginia woman was killed Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Scott County.
Virginia State Police identified the victim as Rachel Dawn Boger, 31, of Lebanon. Boger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The wreck reportedly occurred at 5:15 a.m. on Route 71 near the entrance to Keith Memorial Park in Nickelsville.
Boger was not wearing a seatbelt when the wreck occurred.
Elizabeth Pittman, 36, of Lebanon, was traveling east on US 68 driving a 2001 Nissan when she attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle. Records indicate Pittman was unable to complete the pass due to oncoming traffic, steered back into her lane of travel, then lost control of the vehicle. She dropped off the eastbound shoulder, returned to the roadway and struck a semi vehicle in the rear of the trailer. The semi was operated by 58-year-old Michael Brock, of Berea, KY. Police say Brock was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not injured.
A Millersburg man riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a pickup truck Friday night in Fairview Township, police said.
Friday night's accident occurred at about 9:16 p.m. along the 200 block of Old York Road, police said.
Investigators determined a motorcycle operated by Richard Kane, 35, no address given, was traveling south on Old York Road when he crossed the center double yellow line and collided with a Dodge pickup truck driven by Michael Yinger, no age given, of New Cumberland.
