NICKELSVILLE — A Southwest Virginia woman was killed Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Scott County.

Virginia State Police identified the victim as Rachel Dawn Boger, 31, of Lebanon. Boger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The wreck reportedly occurred at 5:15 a.m. on Route 71 near the entrance to Keith Memorial Park in Nickelsville.

Boger was not wearing a seatbelt when the wreck occurred.

One man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle in Heidelburg Township, Lebanon County. Pennsylvania State Police say 52-year-old William Shartle of Richmond was killed when he lost control on a curve and crashed. The accident happened just after 5:45 p.m. Saturday on Reistville Road, according to police. Investigators say Shartle was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he later died.

Both lanes of Route 283 eastbound were closed at Route 743 for close to five hours due to a motorcycle accident on Saturday. Police say the crash, involving a motorcycle and truck tractor semitrailer occurred around 8:15 a.m. on Route 283 at the Elizabethtown Road overpass. Investigators say the motorcyclist, 25-year-old Kevin M. Shirk of Harrisburg died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured. Police say the accident closed both lanes of Route 283 east from the Route 743 exit to the Elizabethtown Rheems exit.

Pennsylvania State Police in York County are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash. The accident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Carlisle and Fickes roads in Warrington Township. Investigators say the driver, 46-year-old Todd Ziegler of Dillsburg died at the scene. The coroner says Ziegler was not wearing a helmet.

Police took into custody the driver of a minivan following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in the Bronx on Sunday morning. According to police, officers responded to an accident involving a pedestrian at University Avenue and West 176 Street in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx at around 3:30 a.m. Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered a 43-year-old man in the roadway with severe head trauma. The victim was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Elizabeth Pittman, 36, of Lebanon, was traveling east on US 68 driving a 2001 Nissan when she attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle. Records indicate Pittman was unable to complete the pass due to oncoming traffic, steered back into her lane of travel, then lost control of the vehicle. She dropped off the eastbound shoulder, returned to the roadway and struck a semi vehicle in the rear of the trailer. The semi was operated by 58-year-old Michael Brock, of Berea, KY. Police say Brock was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not injured.

A Millersburg man riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a pickup truck Friday night in Fairview Township, police said.

Friday night's accident occurred at about 9:16 p.m. along the 200 block of Old York Road, police said.

Investigators determined a motorcycle operated by Richard Kane, 35, no address given, was traveling south on Old York Road when he crossed the center double yellow line and collided with a Dodge pickup truck driven by Michael Yinger, no age given, of New Cumberland.

A Monaghan Township man died Thursday night in a motorcycle crash in Fairview Township, according to police. Wayne Harmon, 60, was killed around 10:55 p.m. when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in the area of Siddonsburg Road and Markham Court, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma and was wearing a helmet, York County Chief Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley said. The crash involved only Harmon's motorcycle, but police believe he was riding with a second motorcycle at the time of the crash. It remains under investigation.

A 45-year-old Manheim man was admitted to hospital Saturday morning with life-threatening injuries after he was thrown off his motorcycle during a crash with a car. Two other people were injured, but released from hospital. The crash happened just after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Bucknoll Road and Holly Tree Road in Penn Township, Lancaster County.

Police have identified the 81-year-old man who was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 20 near Lebanon Thursday afternoon. Samuel Slaughter of Sweet Home suffered serious injuries in a crash involving a commercial truck pulling a semi trailer and a car. Oregon State Police said at about 1 p.m. a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer stopped on westbound Highway 20 to wait for train to pass by so the driver could turn into a driveway.
