Gulfport man charged for role in fatal pedestrian crash

Caleb Fitzgerald was booked into the Pinellas County Jail late Friday on one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. He was released Saturday after posting a bond of $50,000.

Exclusive: Family upset felony charge against driver was dropped

About three weeks later, on Sept. 22, the Pinellas State Attorney's Office dropped that felony charge against the teen stating 'circumstances revealed do not warrant prosecution at this time'. Assistant State Attorney Doneen Loar tells Bay News 9 that the teen was not at fault in the crash.

Fitzgerald hit Butler first when she was pushing a shopping cart across a street, which pushed her to the center lane where she was hit yet again by a different car.

Thats my cousin by the way. He is not a bad man. He was just comming home from q long day of work, when he hit her he was dramatized. And the very next day after dealing with the police all night he had to go to his high school graduation!

It's been proven that Caleb Fitzgerald did not hit the woman and he wasn't convicted of a crime. Perhaps for the sake of accuracy and truth you'd like to update this information. In this article it's stated as fact that he struck a woman with his car, when in fact, his car was impounded and checked for evidence for several days and absolutely nothing was found to indicate that he struck her.
