Two-vehicle crash claims life of 69-year-old Newton woman

The statement said the crash happened after the 2003 Toyota Rav4 Bonner was driving collided with a 2001 Ford F350 Brundidge Volunteer Fire vehicle driven by Joseph Sonntag, 80, of Brundidge. The crash happened 6:16 p.m. on U.S. 231 at the intersection of S.A. Graham Boulevard. A passenger traveling with Bonner suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Sonntag and a passenger in his vehicle suffered minor injuries, and were taken to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment. No other details were available, but the crash remains under investigation.
