Alleged drunken driver runs from crash scene, leaving injured wife behind

  An alleged drunken driver crashed through a fence early Thursday morning and ran home, leaving his injured wife behind. The man crashed into the wrought-iron fence at an apartment complex in the area of Dunlap and 17th avenues around 2 a.m. A man who was in his apartment heard the crash, went out to check what happened and saw the driver's injured wife on the ground. Police said the driver went home where he changed clothes, climbed into bed and pretended to be asleep. Police said the couple had left their two children, ages 5 and 14, home alone to go out drinking.
