Pursuit of Wrong-Way Driver Ends With Head-On Crash.

A wrong-way driver traveling at speeds near 100 miles per hour crashed head-on with a family of three, including a two-month-old infant in Van Nuys early Sunday, officials said.

Two people were hospitalized following a violent wrong-way crash in Van Nuys Sunday.

A wrong-way driver traveling at speeds near 100 miles per hour crashed head-on with a family of three, including a two-month-old infant in Van Nuys early Sunday, officials said.

Officers attempted to stop a speeding SUV on the 101 Freeway when the driver exited at Coldwater Canyon, went back on the 101 Freeway and then exited onto the southbound 405 Freeway, California Highway Patrol.

The driver made a u-turn while on the freeway, driving north on the southbound 405 Freeway, officials said. The SUV crashed head on with another SUV, authorities said.

Officials said a family of three were in the victim’s vehicle. A mother suffered major head trauma, authorities said, while a father received minor injuries. A two-month-old infant did not suffer any injuries.

The suspect was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with moderate to sever injuries.

A SigAlert that was issued after the crash was lifted just after 5 a.m.
