Community Pays Respects After Teen Killed By Car In Elk Grove

People young and old have been visiting the center median of the crash site to pay their respects to the boy by leaving flowers and candles. The Elk Grove Unified School District confirmed he was a student in the district.

But on Saturday afternoon, traffic was moving quickly and the teen and his friend thought they could make it across safely. A driver clipped the back of his bike, throwing him 30 to 40 feet in the air.  Police say the pedestrian signal wasn’t activated.

Almost 100 people gathered in Elk Grove for an honorary bike ride in Burke’s honor Wednesday. Fochetti says she’s honored to see this support, knowing her bright-eyed son was loved and will be remembered.
