The identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately released.

“I heard it. It sounded like two cars crashing,” he said. “I tried to give first aid or CPR. I tried to get him to respond, tried to get him breathing, but no such luck.”

A pedestrian died in Santa Rosa Monday afternoon after being hit by a car. The accident occured just after 3 p.m. on the 700 block of Mendocino Avenue between College Avenue and Carrillo Street, near Santa Rosa High School. The driver, Robert Lynn Shor, 73, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.
