FHP: Five kids injured in crash near Four Corners

Troopers say their mother was driving them in a van south on U.S. 27 near Sawgrass Bay in Lake County when she turned her head to talk to her 9-year-old daughter in the passenger seat. When she looked back to traffic, she realized a truck had stopped in front of her. She swerved to avoid the truck, but the right side of her van struck the left rear of the truck. The collision caused the door to rip off. Two passengers, a 5-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl, were partially ejected from the vehicle. They are in critical condition. The 9-year-old suffered serious injuries while the other two kids, a 7-year-old boy and 5-month old girl, had minor injuries. All five were taken to Arnold Palmer hospital.
