Jorge Guerrero, 27, and unidentified woman killed when their SUV crashes into utility pole on California Avenue in Chicago, Illinois

A man and woman were killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Southwest Side late Saturday. About 11:35 p.m., the duo were in a sport utility vehicle travelling north on California Avenue near West 37th Street when the driver lost control and hit a utility pole, police said. They were dead at the scene. The man has been identified as Jorge Guerrero, 27, of the 3300 block of West 38th Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The identity of the female has not yet been released. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and it was not immediately known if alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said. The Major Accident Investigations Unit is investigating.
