Three cars were involved in the crash that occurred in the inbound lanes of I-90/94 near 95th Street at about 12:35 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.
Six people were taken to hospitals in serious-to-critical condition, while three more people were hospitalized in fair-to-serious condition, fire officials said. Police said a tenth person drove on their own to the hospital.
