Gurnee Ill. police are asking for the public's help finding a vehicle that is thought to have hit and killed a man and injured his dog in the Lake County suburb early this morning.
Gurnee police are asking for the public's help finding a vehicle that is thought to have hit and killed a man and injured his dog in the Lake County suburb early this morning. The victim, identified as Timothy Fleming, 31, was found about 3:45 a.m. near the southbound entrance ramp to Skokie Highway/U.S. Route 41 from Washington Street in Gurnee after someone called police to say a man was down in that area, police said. Officers who arrived on-scene found Fleming lying unresponsive, next to an injured dog, police said in a news release. Paramedics found no signs of life. Police believe Fleming was struck by a vehicle sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 3:44 a.m. Family members told news sources that Fleming had returned home from his job as a bartender not longer before Jordan, a black Labrador retriever, was let out, then took off onto the ramp, which is near where Fleming lived. Jordan has been known to run off, and Fleming was concerned enough about the dog to go after it despite a fog that was covering the area at the time.
