Fiery wreck on Seawall in Galveston kills two

Investigators say no other vehicles were impacted in the accident and that it is unknown if alcohol played a factor.

The officers tried to fight the fire with extinguishers from their cars until firefighters arrived, but the driver, identified as 19-year-old Kendall Reed, was pronounced dead.
Two Crosby residents died in a car collision around 3 a.m. Sunday in Galveston, when a vehicle crashed on Seawall Boulevard.  The PT Cruiser caught fire as bystanders were trying to extricate the occupants from the car. The driver was identified as Kendall Reed, 19. He was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The passenger was identified as Sara Santana, 20, who was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Witnesses observed the vehicle traveling westbound on Seawall Boulevard and drift across lanes of traffic before crashing into a pole.
