One dead in high-speed accident on Highway 8
The eastbound vehicle apparently slammed into the back of a 18-wheeler on Highway 8 east of Houston shortly before noon Thursday, killing the driver of the car.
A man identified as Michael Young, 44, was driving at a high-rate of speed on Highway 8 when he slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler. The car skidded for more than 100 yards while caught under the wheels of the truck before stopping in the middle of the highway and catching fire. The impact trapped Young in the car for more than 30 minutes while emergency crews extracted him. He died at the scene.
