Man dies after crashing into power pole near Pearland The driver of a black pickup truck was killed Saturday night when he lost control on FM 521 just south of Beltway 8 and struck an electric pole. The accident, which occurred at about 7 p.m., knocked out power to some homes in the Pearland area for about five hours, authorities said. The driver's name was not released.
