Deadly hit and run crash in Dane County Friday morning
The suspect's vehicle is described as a Ford dually pick-up with a three-tone paint job; black on the bottom, tan or gold in the middle and maroon on top. The pick-up has damage to the rear tailgate and also to the front grill and front turn signal light. The truck may also have some type of rack attached to the hitch.

Police said they interviewed the driver, Kevin D. Meister, 35, of Brooklyn. He was booked into Dane County Jail on a tentative charge of hit-and-run causing death, the sheriff's office said.

Shelton C. Berel, 33, was killed when he was hit by a car while biking around 6:30 a.m. on Lincoln Road near Hillcrest in the town of Oregon, according to the office. Berel was from Oregon.

He said his group advocates a "Vulnerable Users Law" in Wisconsin[4], which would "create a new class of penalties for those convicted of killing or injuring a cyclist, pedestrian, farmer driving a farm vehicle, law enforcement official writing a ticket or aiding a motorist or other vulnerable road users" according to the Bike Federation of Wisconsin.
Man accused in Dane County fatal hit-and-run thought he hit deer
Meister's attorney says Meister believed he had hit a deer, and drove to the headquarters of the landscaping company he works for. The attorney says law enforcement officers took Meister into custody at a job site later Friday.

In the meantime, the Wisconsin Bike Federation is asking people to remember Berel's life and think of his family while biking tomorrow. Some are riding at 6:30 a.m. They are also asking people to ride for bike safety.
