A vehicle in San Francisco’s South of Market district fatally struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 2:35 a.m. the CHP received a report of a pedestrian who had been struck near the Fourth Street on-ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 80, the CHP said.
The pedestrian died at the scene and the driver of the vehicle cooperated with the investigation, according to the CHP.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the name of the deceased pedestrian has not yet been released, the CHP said.
A series of crashes on I-43 in Waukesha County forced the closure of the northbound lanes for part of Sunday morning as the turn toward colder weather makes for slippery roads in southeast Wisconsin.
The crashes around 8:40 a.m. Sunday closed the highway northbound at Moorland Road in New Berlin, the state Department of Transportation said, and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
The DOT said just after 10 a.m. that the northbound lanes had reopened.

Oregon State Police continues to investigate a fatal crash Sunday afternoon along Highway 20 east of Bend that killed one man and seriously injured another.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m., when a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by Matthew A. Dreyer, 35, of Star, Idaho, was negotiating a curve along westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 31. One person was killed and six others were injured when the brakes in their van apparently gave out near Gold Run in Placer County, authorities said. Emergency officials got a call from someone inside the Chevy Astro van about 4:40 p.m. and were told that it was traveling west on Interstate 80 and was out of control, according to CHP Officer Chris Nave.
