The Wildcat community is devastated by the loss of Ashley and Garrett. We have already arranged to have additional counselor support at elgin high school come Monday. We have also opened our campus this evening for students, staff, parents, and community to gather together to mourn and cope with the loss of our wildcat family members.
Two teens were killed and three others injured after a rollover pickup truck crash near Elgin just after midnight on U.S. 290, just east of Elgin. Ashley Farrell, 17, and William Garret Sumner, 16, died. Farrell was pronounced deceased at the crash site after the truck she was a passenger in exited the road and rolled down an embankment. Sumner and the four other occupants were transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Sumner later died at the hospital.  Investigators are looking into the cause of the collision.
