A Tacoma man riding his motorcycle died Saturday after a Gig Harbor woman driving a BMW crossed the center line about 7:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Bay Drive Northwest and hit him head-on. The 69-year-old man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead after the crash south of Gig Harbor. He was identified as Alex Heinz. The woman, 71, was taken to the hospital for injuries, and is expected to be okay. According to police, officers tried to pull over a white van because an occupant inside was wanted on a felony warrant. The driver did not stop. Police said the van ran a red light and smashed into another van. The driver of the other van died. “They pulled him right out, he was hurt bad and couldn’t stand up,” said eyewitness Trista Arnston.
