Trenton-NJA township man was hit and killed by a police car on New York Avenue as the officer was responding to a report of a suspicious person on Saturday night. Keith Atkinson Jr., 23, was struck around 11:15 p.m. while he was walking in the road. The police officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of New York Avenue for a report of man who tried to enter a residence by forcing his way through a door. The homeowner confronted the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, and the intruder left on foot.
