An 18-year-old Ferndale woman died and three other young women were injured when their vehicle swerved off I-90 west of Ellensburg and rolled over Thursday. Sofia Milstead was the driver of the 1999 Subaru Legacy. She died in the crash. Injured were Alexa Smiley, 18, of Lynden; Katherine Webb, 18, of Blaine; and Nichole Deboer, 18 of Sedro-Woolley. Their current conditions have not been reported. The State Patrol said neither drugs nor alcohol was a contributing factor in the wreck.
Fields was driving on I-90 on Monday morning when she departed the roadway to right, which caused the car to roll over and land upside-down. She was injured and taken to the hospital, treated, and eventually released. Intoxicants are not a suspected factor in this accident, but Fields will be cited for departing the roadway.

All the persons involved in the crash, including the man killed, were students at Washington State University. Troopers said a vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 when the vehicle lost control on icy roads around 10:40 a.m. The vehicle left the roadway near Milepost 123 and rolled over.
