Jacksonville, FLJay McKinley was turning left onto U.S. 17 from Floyd Street when he was struck by a passenger car driven by 27-year-old Ashley Havens. McKinley was taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Havens was not injured, and neither was her 2-year-old passenger. The crash is still under investigation.

Jacksonville, FLIt was early in the morning when high school student Gianna Asencio was walking to her school bus stop in Fleming Island and was hit by a car while she tried to cross a street. The teenage girl ended up dying in the collision, but the driver of the vehicle that struck her, identified as Michael G. Casey, 58, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorites. It is unlikely that the driver will be charged; a jogger who witnessed the accident said they saw one vehicle drive past Asencio, and a second one strike her.
