According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a person was killed in a T-bone collision after a vehicle traveling on Barefoot Road pulled in front of a vehicle travelling east on West Academy Street south of south of Fuquay-Varina. The driver of the first vehicle was killed, and the second driver was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. Troopers indicate that no charges are expected because the driver believed to be at fault was killed. The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The names of the drivers were not immediately released.

One person was injured following a three-vehicle collision on N.C. Highway 42 Monday morning, near Fuquay-Varina. The accident occured on October 27, 2014 when a sedan crossed the double yellow lines at Barber Bridge road and collided with the side of a dump truck; the truck was unable to stop after losing its air brakes and crashed into a pickup truck. The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital to treat non life-threatening injuries.
