One person is dead and one person sustained serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred Thursday night, April 24th on I-94 near WIS 142 in Kenosha County. I-94 is under construction in this area.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, a minivan struck the back of a semi stopped in traffic on I-94 around 10:45 p.m.

The 34-year-old male driver of the minivan, later identified as Bram Dorresteijn, sustained severe head injuries. He was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Medical Center. His condition remains critical.

A crash near here involving two semis left one driver dead this morning on an icy stretch of Interstate 94, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. One semi rear-ended the other about 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near milepost 24, the patrol said. The name of the driver who died has not been released. The other driver, Thomas Harrington Jr., 53, of St. Paul, was not hurt, a patrol Sgt. said. The patrol continues to investigate the crash. Police urged drivers to slow down and use caution on the roads, which are snowy and icy in spots.

A section of I-94 is shut down in both directions in Van Buren County due to pileup involving semi-trucks. The closure, which includes the eastbound and westbound lanes, is located between mile marker 52 and mile marker 60, which is the Paw Paw exit. Six people were injured in the pileup, which occurred on I-94′s eastbound lanes, according to Van Buren County Central Dispatch. As many as 10 vehicles, in addition to the semi-trucks, are involved.
