A police officer from Mattawan was helping deputies respond to accidents on I-94 at about 12:30pm, when a woman who was involved in a crash started to exit her car. Right after the police officer told the woman to remain in her vehicle, he walked away and was suddenly hit by another car on I-94. The officer was conscious and able to use his radio to call for help, and was eventually hospitalized with head and knee injuries. This accident remains under investigation; check back for updates.
