Memphis, TNPeggy Phillips, 63, was driving at approximately 7:30 a.m. when her vehicle apparently crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and crashed nearly head-on with an SUV. Phillips and her passenger, Julie Smith, 45, were both taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Phillips died at the hospital; Smith is listed in stable condition. Authorities say neither woman was wearing a seat belt. Arlene Settles, 41, was driving the SUV and was not injured.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014Roy Bumgarner was driving on Highway 2 when he lost control of his vehicle due to the icy conditions and struck a pickup truck. Bumgarner died at the scene, and three other people were hospitalized though their conditions and identities have not yet been released. Bumgarner was not wearing a seatbelt. The accident is still under investigation.
