Trenton-NJA New Jersey great-grandmother was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver near her home, and her family and police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver. Ernesta Fernandez, 77, was crossing Centre Street in Nutley at around noon Saturday when she was struck. A dark van, possibly a Ford Econoline, was seen speeding away from the crash scene. Fernandez, a grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of three, was a retired hairdresser. So far, police have no surveillance video or better leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nutley police.
