The president of a north Florida tea party group has been killed in a two-vehicle car crash in Marion County.

The Florida Highway Patrol told the Ocala Star-Banner that 70-year-old Stephen Hunter of Sparr died in the Friday night crash. Hunter headed the Ocala Tea Party or Tea Party Solutions for the last several years.

Troopers say Hunter was attempting to make a left turn on U.S. 441 and apparently did not see an oncoming pickup truck, which struck Hunter's car on the driver's side.
