An 18-year-old Boonville man died in a single-car accident on Highway 128 near Philo in Mendocino County. The crash occurred when a Toyota Corolla drifted off the roadway and hit a tree. Witnesses extracted the driver from the car just before it caught fire, but the driver was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
