A set of wheels came off of a tanker trailer, bounced over the median wall into oncoming traffic on I-94, and struck a Honda Accord with three occupants. The rear seat passenger in the Honda, a 67-year-old woman, Rebecca Avery, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The 34-year-old male driver, Michael Ditewig, was taken to Bronson Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. A female passenger in the front seat sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The truck was owned by Boersen Farms.
