A Vancouver man driving a motorcycle died in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 5 just south of Ridgefield, and two other drivers were hospitalized. The collision occurred around 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway under the Carty Road overpass. A Ford F-250 pickup driven by Eldon L. Ford, 33, of Ontario, Ore., slowed to pull onto the right shoulder and was struck from behind by a Honda CR-V driven by Wanda K. Dodd, 48, of Bellingham. Dodd then lost control of her vehicle and struck a Harley-Davison motorcycle driven in the middle lane by Dennis G.

Matthew Scott, 39, of Tualatin, died in a crash in snow on Interstate 5 near Ridgefield, Wash. Thursday. Snowfall caused numerous crashes that halted traffic on I-5 north of Vancouver, as well as along State Route 503 through Battle Ground. Vancouver Public Works has 17 vehicles outfitted with combination plows and deicers to handle both snow and icy conditions. Officials warned that neighborhood side streets do not get plowed due to higher demands for arterial roads.

A Castle Rock woman escaped serious injury in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about two miles south of Ridgefield.

The crash, reported just minutes after midnight Monday, occurred when a 1999 Chevrolet K1 driven by Elisabeth Lowe, 52, left the road, according to Washington State Patrol.

Lowe had been on the Gee Creek Rest Area exit when she lost control; the vehicle rolled and came to rest in a ditch, according to the state patrol.

Lowe was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center where she was treated and released.
