A 58-year old woman pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon in San Francisco Superior Court to felony gross vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving charges in connection with a crash that killed a 16-year-old boy in September.

Jennie Zhu, a San Francisco resident, was arraigned Thursday afternoon on the manslaughter charge and two felony counts of reckless driving causing injury after hitting a car on Pine and Gough streets on the morning of Sept. 27.

A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run on Valencia Street in San Francisco early this morning, police said. The victim, a man in his 20s, was struck by a car at about 2:45 a.m. as he walked across Valencia at Clinton Park, according to police. The car continued south on Valencia Street and did not stop after striking the man, who was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for life-threatening head wounds, a police spokesman said.

A motorcyclist who was struck and killed by a car in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood was identified Tuesday as Bill Beckwith, a contractor and carpenter who co-hosted the HGTV show Curb Appeal. Beckwith, 38, was hit by a car near the corner of Oak and Steiner streets about 8:30 p.m. Monday, police said. He died at San Francisco General Hospital. The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man, stopped after the crash and cooperated with investigators. His name wasn't released.
