The northbound U.S. Highway 101 connector ramp to northbound Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose has opened after a solo-vehicle crash early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers responded to reports of an overturned red Nissan Altima that crashed on the ramp around 3:50 a.m., the CHP said. The CHP is actively looking for the Nissan’s three occupants whom witnesses said exited the vehicle, hopped into another car and fled the scene.

A light-rail train struck and killed a woman in San Jose early Christmas morning, officials at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority said.

The train was northbound on Highway 87 south of the city when it hit the woman at about 1:30 a.m., about 100 to 200 yards from the Curtner Light Rail Station, officials said.

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in San Jose early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim, a 48-year-old San Jose man, was walking west across Bascom Avenue south of Scott Street when he was hit by a car traveling north on Bascom, CHP officials said. The driver fled after the collision, and the CHP was contacted at 12:45 a.m. when a witness spotted the victim lying motionless in the roadway. He was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he died of his injuries at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A person in a wheelchair was killed by a car on Monterey Road in San Jose Friday evening, according to police. The person in the wheelchair was going north in the southbound lane on Monterey Road while a vehicle was traveling south at about 7 p.m., police said. The two collided head-on near the intersection with Phelan Avenue. The person in the wheelchair was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.

A 17-year-old boy riding his bike in southern San Jose was struck by a car and killed Tuesday night, authorities said.

Anthony Garcia, a San Jose resident, was pedaling near the intersection of Vista Park Drive and Branham Lane shortly before 7 p.m. when he was hit, according to police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating while the investigation continues, police said. Further details of the crash were not released.
