Seattle-Tacoma, WAState troopers received reports of a pickup hitting a pedestrian at about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. The accident scene was about a mile west of Sequim on the Highway 101 bridge over the Dungeness River. The pedestrian, who apparently had been standing in the middle of the westbound lanes in the darkeness, was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, a 52-year-old Sequim man, immediately called 911 and stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. He was not impaired, and no charges were expected.
