A truck driving north on I-5 on Thursday afternoon somehow lost control and veered left into a barrier, causing pieces of debris to hit four other cars and the truck to rollover. The accident caused the road to close almost one hour, and one victim was transported to the hospital but not with major injuries. We will update this story as more information is released.

A Tacoma man who tried to cross Interstate 5 late Monday was struck by a car at about 10:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes at milepost 136 by the Puyallup River. The 41-year-old Tacoma man dressed in dark clothing was walking across the freeway when a 69-year-old Yelm man struck him with a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. The driver suffered minor facial injuries. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The State Patrol said the pedestrian appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The driver was not arrested.

A collision on Interstate 5 south of Joint Base Lewis-McChord has killed one person when a pickup truck in the northbound lanes crossed the median into the southbound lanes and hit a box truck and a semi truck. The driver of the semi truck was killed. Two people in the box truck were uninjured. A person was trapped in the pickup, and it took an hour or more to extricate him.
