The San Juan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office

The San Juan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has six major functions: it serves as the state's attorney in all adult and juvenile criminal cases in San Juan County; it provides victim services for victims of crime and their families; it is the County's law firm on civil issues and lawsuits; it assists the attorney general in family support cases; it is the County's coroner; and it participates in community affairs and improvement of the legal system.

San Juan County Superior Court

The Superior Court's primary purpose is to decide cases fairly and impartially, based solely on applicable facts and law. In administering the court, our goals are to provide efficient and courteous service to all, to promote respect for the law, and to provide equal access to justice. San Juan County District Court

As a court of limited jurisdiction, the District Court is responsible for the following types of matters: civil litigation matters up to $75,000; small claims matters up to $5,000; nuisance violations; vehicle tow and impound hearings; anti-harassment orders; domestic violence protection orders; infractions (traffic, non-traffic and parking); misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor criminal cases; felony expedited cases; felony preliminary hearings; search warrants; and death inquests.

San Juan County Bar Association

The San Juan County Bar Association serves local lawyers in this county of approximately 15,000 people. This association is also involved in the judiciary and three members of this organization are required to approve to court’s board of trustees.

San Juan County Public Works Department

The Public Works Department is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of all County roads in San Juan County. In addition to Roads, the Public Works Department maintains the County's buildings and grounds, and operates Solid Waste Transfer Stations on three islands. Our office is located at 915 Spring Street in the Town of Friday, very near the Friday Harbor Airport.

Skagit County Jail

The Skagit County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division is an around the clock, 24/7 operation. Currently 40 Corrections Deputies, 5 Corrections Sergeants, and 1 Lieutenant are responsible for providing safe and secure housing for inmates being held in the custody of the Skagit County Jail. The staff of the jail is also responsible for inmate movement outside of the jail facility, such as court appearances, medical appointments, etc.

Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney

The Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney's Office provides assistance to the victims of crime, advises law enforcement agencies on legal and investigative matters, determines if criminal charges should be filed against a person, prosecutes criminal cases in District, Juvenile and Superior Court, and represents the State in all criminal appeals.

Skagit County Public Defender's Office

The Skagit County Public Defender's Office provides defense services for indigents charged with criminal offenses, juveniles charged with criminal offenses, at-risk juveniles, indigent parents in child dependency cases, and respondents in Mental Health Proceedings.
